Generic conventions of scripts.

After researching two different scripts, one British television and one American i have found that the conventions of both are extremely similar. The basic conventions of both scripts are that stage directions should be bracketed and clear, short also and open to improvisation for the actors. The text should also be paragraphed after each separate character has spoken and it should be clear who's lines belong to who, i found that the scripts are also usually center aligned rather than aligned to the left. The american scripts seems to portray the characters as more well spoken, even though they are both comedy texts i suspect this is down to differences in culture and the way we perceive humor. The only big difference between both scripts i looked at was that in the American text there was no kind of set description throughout, this may be because the setting is familiar as the show is set in the same place throughout the series however there is no mention of props or anything within the stage directions however there is a set description and use of props and even extras in the British script.
